Some of the problems however such as those implications that are discussed in the Logic of Hegel do not appear to be susceptible of mathematical treatment at all.

Epistemology on the other hand the general doctrine of knowledge would seem rather to be concerned with the presuppositions both of Logic and of Mathematics.

The main problems of this subject have been already partly indicated and will be further considered in some of the subsequent chapters.

But it has to be confessed that the distinctions between different subjects of study are to some extent arti- ficial.

The problems dealt with in one science can seldom be cut off quite sharply from those of others.
